Hi. I’m Zach Peirce, Registered Maine Fishing Guide and owner of Maine Stream Guide Services. I’ve been fishing for more than 20 years. Maine, the Northeast, and as far west as Alaska. Whether it’s solo or with friends, in kayaks or on drift boats, you’ll almost always find me fishing, learning, and teaching!
In fact, I can’t really remember life without fishing. My uncle recalls me as a 2-year old, passing the time before my second-ever haircut, fishing in a pond behind the barber shop, hopping up and down as I landed one sunfish after another — even then, catch and release! Then, it was a worm and bobber. Soon enough, it would be lures and bass.
I began my bass fishing journey at the Needham, MA reservoir taking part in fishing derbies my mom organized and ran as Assistant Director of Needham Parks and Rec.
My interest steadily grew from regularly watching ESPN bass tournaments and Outdoor Channel fishing shows. Bicycles, kayaks, and finally cars helped me expand my access to fishing locations, eventually all over New England. A kayak got me to offshore locations. A car got me to distant streams, ponds, lakes.
As I got older, I purposely sought work that would broaden my skills: Charles River Canoe and Kayak Company, outside of Boston, afforded me insights and training in both guiding and safety; a fly fishing and guide course in Pennsylvania enabled me to learn how to row rafts and drift boats all the while fly fishing for trout under the tutelage of an expert instructor; work at Kenai Cache Outfitters, a guide company in Alaska, helped me learn the importance of collaboration and teamwork among guides and outfitters; and in Maine, my first full time job afforded me a rewarding and educational opportunity to work with farmed Atlantic salmon.
While fishing as an adult is different from my earlier experiences, I continue to absolutely love the sport and treasure my time in the exceptionally beautiful Maine outdoors. Now a trained and Registered Maine Fishing Guide, I’m eager to share my knowledge and experience with you, so you and your child or guest can enjoy fishing as much as I do.
